2. Haftam Bet

Haftam Bet (Amharic) "The Book of the Comforts" or "The Haftam Bet Book of Consolations". The name is a reference to Isaiah’s prophecy in Chapter 61:10, where it speaks of God’s servant being anointed with "the oil of joy".

Haftam Bet (Amharic) means the book that consoles or comforts the people of Israel during a time of exile and suffering.

4. Haftam 1-32: The Book of Consolations

The book is an anthology of poems, songs, and prophetic utterances compiled by the Jewish scribes between 550 – 200 BCE. It contains 22 collections or "sextants" each attributed to a different prophet.

The Haftarah (Hebrew) is an appointed section from the Book of Consolations that follows the Torah readings during Shabbat services and on special days such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover.
